ROWING SCHOLARSHIPS FOR GMS HIGH SCHOOL ROWERS

Jacqui Lindo a New Milford High Senior has won a rowing scholarship to the prestigious St. Mary’s College, California. This is a Division 1 rowing college and the competition for places was extremely high.

Jacqui only started rowing at the beginning of 2006 but her potential was quickly recognized by Guenter Beutter, Technical Director and founder of GMS Rowing Center.

This is the second rowing scholarship awarded to a student from New Milford High School.

Adam Kobayashi a student at Canterbury School won a rowing scholarship to the highly regarded Colgate College. This is again a [Division 1 rowing college] with fierce competition for places.

Adam has been rowing at GMS for three years during which time he has won numerous medals. Last year he was a member of a quad (four man scull) who came fourth at the National Junior Championships in Indianapolis just missing a medal by a fraction of a second

Taylor Fries is a student of Staples High School, Westport but comes to New Milford for training. She has won a place at Wisconsin State University as part of their light-weight women’s program. This program has an unbeaten record in recent years and Taylor did extremely well to gain admission.

Guenter Beutter has been Taylor’s coach for the last four years during which time she has won numerous medals championships.

GMS Rowing Center at New Milford is delighted to have helped these young athletes and the many others who gained college admission with the help of their crew/rowing credentials. With some of the best rowing water in the Northeast and excellent coaching GMS look forward to helping many more students to achieve their ambitions
